Tips For Concealed Carry With Your Revolver Shoulder Holster

Carrying a concealed weapon can be one of the safest choices you make, but it does come with a few drawbacks. For example, not everyone respects concealed carry weapons as much as we do, so keeping it hidden is a common courtesy that will help you avoid any unnecessary confrontations.

Additionally, shoulder holsters can be uncomfortable, especially when the gun in question is a revolver. As the leading craftsman of handmade gun holsters, we here at Black Hills leather have decided to share some of our favorite tips for concealed carry with your revolver shoulder holster.

Favorite Tips

While every concealed carry licensee understands how to operate a gun, they might not be aware of some of these tips for concealing your revolver in a shoulder holster. Some of our favorite tips are:

  • Loose Clothing: When we say wear loose clothing, we mean a shirt one size larger than usual. This tip doesn’t apply so much to revolver shoulder holsters as it does to belt holsters. But a loose shirt will allow you to reach for objects up high without your holster being displayed to the whole world.

  • Don’t Check Your Gun: This is a difficult habit to break but constantly checking your gun makes you look suspicious. The weight of your gun should be enough for you to know your revolver is still in its shoulder holster.

  • Wear a Thicker Coat: Don’t go overboard and get the bulkiest coat you can find. It will make you stick out like a sore thumb. Instead, try a thick leather jacket, this should conceal your revolver shoulder holster from the public eye relatively easily.

Things to Avoid

In addition to these tips for concealing your revolver shoulder holster, there are a number of things to avoid when concealing your revolver. The biggest thing you should avoid is printing. Printing is when the outline of your gun is visible through the licensee's clothing. Obviously, avoiding the wrong clothing, like tight white t-shirts, can help you avoid printing problems, but also choosing the right holster for your revolver is just as important.
